Northern lights, northern Saskatchewan

Wilderness & Conservation

This is one of the last great wilderness regions where bald eagles, black bears, caribou, lynx, moose, wolves and arctic foxes are a part of the landscape. The Taiga Shield’s abundant waters give ample opportunities to see, hear and photograph the shy waterfowl and wildlife. Every moment is awe-inspiring with gorgeous sunsets, northern lights and true remoteness.

To preserve these ecologically sensitive regions we practice sound management of the natural resources under our care by creating the smallest possible footprint. A catch-and-release policy (with the exception of shore lunch) ensures world-class trophy fishing. We encourage the 3 R’s of reducing, reusing and recycling wherever possible by staff and guests alike.

Top-of-the-line 4-stroke outboard motors help lessen our carbon footprint. We are currently upgrading our power supply with the development of solar. Our goal is to preserve this piece of paradise for many generations to come.

Create the memories of a lifetime when you stay with us. Catch giant northern pike, abundant lake trout and beautiful arctic grayling. Milton Lake Lodge and Outposts are located in the far reaches of Northern Saskatchewan. Our secluded lakes are truly fly-in only and are for the exclusive use of our guests.

Your wilderness adventure begins with us in Saskatoon, where a flight will take you approximately 800 kilometres to Stony Rapids. From there you will board a float plane for a short, enjoyable journey to the lodge or outposts. A great experience with exceptional fishing and superb service await you. Be prepared to step into a simpler time and enjoy complete relaxation in this wilderness wonderland.

Trophy Fishery

Our world-class trophy fishery is the main attraction to Milton Lake Lodge and Outposts. Any level of experience is fine, from first-timers to experienced anglers looking to target the biggest fish the North has to offer. At Milton Lake Lodge we provide everything you need—from high-quality rods, reels and lures to comfortable 17 ft Lund Outfitters equipped with Sonar/GPS and 40 HP Yamaha 4-stroke outboards.

Lakes at this latitude of Northern Saskatchewan are known to produce large numbers of huge fish. What makes our lakes exceptional is the fact that very few anglers have even fished these waters. A catch-and-release policy, with the exception of shore lunch, has been in place during the limited number of years that these waters have been fished.

Whether you enjoy casting light gear for arctic grayling in the cold waters of the river, watching the explosion of a monster pike crush your top-water lure, or feeling the thud of a hook set into a giant lake trout while vertical jigging, Milton Lake Lodge and Outposts have what you are looking for.

Fly fishing adventure Canada

Fly Fishing

Our fly-fishing opportunities are fantastic and there are a variety of options to try. Sight fishing for northern pike in the shallows can be done most of the season. Watching a monster pike swirl and hit your fly is very exciting. There are many shallow, sheltered bays to make this method of fishing ideal.

Lake trout can also be caught on a fly in spring and fall when they are located in shallow water.

Try finessing arctic grayling or whitefish with lighter gear in many accessible areas of our river systems.

Our experienced guides and boats with huge casting decks make fly fishing comfortable and enjoyable. Fly-fishing lessons, rods and waders are available for your use at no charge at our main lodge.

Milton Lake Lodge

Milton Lake Lodge is a premium-quality lodge with all the facilities needed to provide beauty and comfort in a wilderness setting. You can relax in the great room, take in the view from the deck, or have a cocktail after a full day of fishing. For those who need to stay in touch with the outside world, hi-speed internet and Wi-Fi calling is available.

We accommodate a maximum of 8 anglers at any time, each with their own private bedroom. Every room has a natural pine interior, a double bed with a down duvet and a thermostat for separate room control. Free daily maid and laundry service is provided.

Start your morning with a hearty breakfast and then later, enjoy either a box lunch or a shore lunch of fresh fish. When you return from a full day of fishing, be sure to have a snack while swapping fish stories. In the evening you can look forward to a hearty, delicious meal served with complementary house wine.

Our guides are the best in the business. The boats are 17 ft Lund Outfitter boats with huge casting decks and 40 HP four-stroke motors. You can travel light as we provide high-quality fishing gear and tackle for your use while at the lodge.

Our main lodge overlooks the beautiful Milton Lake. The great room with its cathedral ceiling and window wall provide great inspiration for corporate and group meetings—or just to hang out with some buddies.

Lake trout can also be caught on a fly in spring and fall when they are located in shallow water.

"Trip of a Lifetime"

This lodge was amazing! The view was spectacular, from the tranquil mornings overlooking Milton Lake with a hot cup of coffee to sitting up at night with a splash of brandy and watching the northern lights with my sons.

Milton Lake Lodge provided a trip of a lifetime. The accommodations were top notch, especially as the only means to get here is by float plane. From the guides to the chef, all the staff were top notch. The fishing was excellent. Having traveled the world, I cannot think of a negative thing to say about this piece of paradise.

"Amazing experience!"

Just returned from Milton Lake Lodge and am still on a “Pike High”! It was a great trip with superb food, great fishing, and a staff that wanted to make sure we were taken care of. The guides were knowledgeable, patient, and very helpful. (We caught a lot of fish!) The chef was quite good with fantastic dinners served nightly. I had the best duck I have ever eaten and a pork tenderloin that was to die for. Amazing considering we were miles from…
Tip: Make sure you bring your waterproof gear. Always a good chance of rain, but boats splash water when crossing the lake. You will get wet!

"Great People, Great Fishing"

100% happy in all regards. Guides, accommodations, experience was all that we could have hoped for. Often the marketing claims of fishing operations are optimistic, shall we say, but Milton Lake Lodge surpassed all we had hoped. Guides Blain and Brian were overqualified and the operation is overseen by Nick Parks who runs a great ship. I think the unexpected highlight was the food. The Chef Tanneau (sp?) prepared and presented…

Tip: All the rooms have views of the lake and there are ZERO other lodges on the entire large lake.
