We had just over 100 people visit Milton Lake Lodge (main lodge) during the 2005 season. These are the only people to ever fish this virgin lake. I don't know of anyone who went home without catching at least one trophy fish. We averaged 1.5 trophy pike (40 inches or better) per guest. We averaged .5 trophy lake trout (30 inches or better) per guest. We spent three times as long fishing northern pike compared to lake trout.

These numbers are based on recorded fish only. Our guides guess that we are missing aproximately 20% of trophy fish that were simply not recorded. Next year the guides will record all of the fish so we will have better data for you.

If you were at the lodge in 2005 and notice that your trophy fish is not in this log please let us know so that we can add it and complete our records.

Our biggest northern pike was 49.5 inches or about 34 pounds. Our biggest lake trout was 48 inches and 41 pounds. Remember that this was all during year one and with only 100 guests! The 2006 season should prove to be much better as we have identified many great spots and methods of fishing.

We caught aproximately five northern pike between 35 and 40 inches for every fish over 40 inches. These fish were recorded but made the list too long so we cut it down to only those fish over 40 inches.

Our Walker Lake Outpost only shows trophy fish caught over an eight-day period as that was the only period that was guided and all fish were recorded. There were five guests at Walker lake that week. The notes that guests left at the camp indicated they caught over 200 fish per day on average and caught at least 75 fish between 36 and 40 inches.

Our Misekumaw Lake Outpost was not guided this year and therefore we have no recorded numbers of trophy fish. Conversations with the guests lead me to believe that the fishing there was similar to both Walker Lake and Milton Lake.

Next year we will have camp managers at both Walker Lake and Milton Lake so we will have complete data on fish caught for you in 2006.
